PostTechnical Research is the result of 20 plus years of my work in developing technology and in advising companies and people in the use of and strategic direction of technology. In several previous forms, Upstream Consulting, FutureSense Consulting LLC & FutureSense Research, I concentrated on technology strategy consulting for both established companies such as Microsoft, IBM, BEA and Iona as well as business and technology consulting for early-stage companies. Today I continue to emphasize business and technology strategy consulting, but I also publish a variety of papers on technology and business trends. I am also working to consolidate my experience into a series of articles & a book on the relationship of technology and organizations, and how this affects the future of work. I currently have a visiting appointment in the Engineering Systems Division at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology & I’m working with colleagues there on several projects relating to the relationship of technology & organizations in very large business & governmental systems.
I continue to do considerable information technology consulting, mostly in the area of healthcare information sharing. My interests, as always, are in the development and integration of emerging technologies into existing software product streams, or the novel and newly productive use of existing technologies and software products in new areas; and in the effect this has on the people and organizations using the technology. |
