Emerging Technology Projects
 I've been developing a set of ideas around the use of descriptive (as opposed to predictive) modeling in several areas as diverse as strategy development & improvement of effectiveness of business process analysis & execution. Descriptive models provide a non-predictive representation or specification of a concept or object. Physical models are special cases of such descriptive models. I have been using computational ontologies to provide these models, & similarly to physical models, they can provide insight & deeper unstanding of the concept or object they represent. They can also be used to provide context for predictive models & so improve the effectiveness of these models.
I'm in the process of working up twp prototypes, one in healthcare policy & strategy development & one in drug discovery process development. The presentation Descriptive Modeling in Healthcare describes progress in this work.
